Stiff neck and screens: relieving neck pain

Looking at your phone with your head tilted down is like adding several kilos of load to your neck. Over time, the cervical area stiffens and becomes painful — a phenomenon so common it has a name: 'text neck'.
Why the neck suffers
The more the head tilts forward, the greater the load on the cervical spine. The neck and shoulder muscles must constantly compensate, which creates stiffness, tension points and sometimes headaches.
Screen, phone and pillow
Raise your phone to eye level rather than lowering your head. Place the computer screen right in front of you, at the right height. At night, a suitable pillow that keeps the neck aligned makes a real difference.
Stretch and mobilize
Gentle, regular movements of the neck and shoulders help release tension. Osteopathy works on neck mobility, the shoulders and overall posture for lasting relief.
Our tips
- •Raise the phone to eye level
- •Place the screen right in front of you
- •Choose a pillow that supports the neck
- •Do gentle neck rotations
- •Relax the shoulders several times a day
When to consult?
In case of severe pain, dizziness, tingling in the arms or after an impact, see a doctor first. For screen-related tension, osteopathy is particularly well suited.
