Back pain at the office: how to prevent lower back pain

Sitting for hours in front of a screen is one of the leading causes of back pain today. The good news: a few simple adjustments are often enough to relieve and prevent lower back pain.
Why sitting tires the back
When you sit for a long time, the lower back bears significant pressure, the muscles relax and posture deteriorates. Without movement, tension builds up gradually and can trigger lower back pain.
Setting up your workstation
Screen at eye level, a backrest that supports the lower back, feet flat, forearms supported: a well-adjusted workstation clearly reduces strain. Avoid trapping the phone between your ear and shoulder.
Move regularly
The best remedy is movement: stand up every 45 minutes, walk a little, stretch. Alternating positions is better than searching for the perfect one.
Our tips
- •Set the top of the screen at eye level
- •Keep your feet flat and your back supported
- •Stand up and move every 45 minutes
- •Drink water regularly (a good excuse to get up)
- •Stretch your lower back and neck at the end of the day
When to consult?
If the pain lasts more than a few days, keeps coming back or is accompanied by sciatica, a consultation helps identify the cause and relieve you lastingly.
